I hope this is not too late to help you, but I ran into the same problem in El Capitan myself and, after much research and experimentation, figured it out. Remember, this works ONLY with non-copy protected disks.
If, when it is finished, you can't find it, open Finder, click on Desktop, and find the most recently created. That's the one!
Now right click on that file and select "Burn Disk Image I hope this helps you. Posted on Feb 3, PM.
Have you tried selecting a slower burn speed? I've had problems before with DVD burns failing at the highest speed which is default, I'm pretty sure. Selecting a slower burn speed solved the problem for me. Mar 10, AM. Page content loaded. Nov 23, AM.

The chosen parts will be imported to the program and shown on the file list. To choose a video format for the video, click the Format button on the left side of the green Convert button.

Just click on that button and then click the Change button in the middle and it will open the Profile page for you. Choose the format you need from this page and click on the format to set it as default, it will, at the same time, take you back to the file list.
Step 4. The video and audio quality can be changed in Settings. To custom the quality yourself, click that Format button again and this time, click the Edit button on the left. In this page you can freely set the video and audio parameters. And there are 3 different quality levels provided for you to choose from.
When you are done tweaking things, click OK to go back to the main interface.
Step 5. Click the "Start conversion" button at the bottom right corner to rip DVD to the format you want on Mac. The progress will be showed in the pop-up window. The amount of time it takes will vary based on your system's hardware and the quality settings you selected.
